Texas Instruments Speak and Math

Buy Speak and Math on Ebay. After my look at Texas Instruments Little Professor a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to also give a shout out to another educational toy from my childhood, TI’s Speak and Math and Speak and Spell games. These games came a long a few years after the Little Professor, so they are a little more advanced, as you might expect. The most noteworthy differences between these games and the Little Professor are that they are much bigger and, as the name suggests, they speak to you.

Buy the LeapPad Tablet at Leapfrog.com. LeapFrog LeapPad Tablet Apparently, it’s tablet day here at TPM. While the HP TouchPad may be a toy for older kids, the LeapFrog LeapPad Tablet is one for the younger kiddos. I’ve been impressed by the reputation LeapFrog products have built in the past. They consistently put out electronic learning devices that have the video game or gadget feel, so they appeal to kids. On the other hand, the learning that goes on continues to earn LeapFrog top marks from educators.

Calculator Spy Camera

Here’s a gadget that we didn’t see coming: a calculator that doubles as a spy camera. If you’d like to keep tabs on anyone from your babysitter to your colleagues, this device delivers. The calculator copies the design and functionality of a Casio DS-5500, so it is a usable calculator. It records at 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames/second. Apparently, it can also take 1280 x 960 pictures, for those of you that plan to use it as a replacement for your digital SLR.
