If this is your first trip to the site since the re-launch, welcome to Tech Powered Math “2.0”. It was about this time last year that I launched Tech Powered Math. What a wonderful first year it turned out to be to launch a math technology site. I was writing about the TI-84 vs. the TI-Nspire when Casio changed the game by announcing their Prizm, the world’s first color graphing calculator. It was only a matter of months before Texas Instruments responded with the TI-Nspire CX, the new and improved TI-Nspire with color to match Casio’s efforts. Of course, the first place you were able to read about the Nspire CX in detail was right here at Tech Powered Math, the day that TI went public. And all along the way, the iPad, Android, online tutoring, and many other services have continued developing.
In addition to the math stories over the course of this year, my knowledge and interest has grown in web design, SEO, and in general, marketing a site online. With what I’ve learned, it was becoming clearer to me all the time that I was outgrowing my first WordPress Theme. It was attractive and easy to use but didn’t offer the flexibility I needed as the site has grown. I’m using Headway Themes now, a “drag and drop theme.” If you have a site of your own, you’ve got to check it out. It lets even a non-coder like me build a pretty site from scratch. There are still a few kinks in the site for me work out, so if you come across any, please be patient and feel free to drop me a line to let me know while I’m ironing them out.
I’m not taking the summer off–far from it. In the coming weeks, I’ll be writing about some cool new iPad apps from Wolfram and HMH, the TI-Nspire CX (the second it arrives here), a new tutoring service I’m impressed by, and School Pad, a concept for a tablet being kept under wraps by “the man.” I hope you’ll stick with me this summer and share Tech Powered Math with your friends.
