Just wanted to let you guys know that you can expect reviews of some of the top HP graphing calculators in the coming weeks. Hewlett Packard has been helpful to provide me with loans of the HP 39gs, HP 40gs, and HP 50g. It’ll take me some time to get these reviews put together because I’m not familiar with any of these calculators yet.
The last time I worked with an HP graphing calculator was in my college days when my primary calculator was an HP 48gx. I found that to be an incredibly powerful calculator with a very steep learning curve. I’m really interested to see how HP has evolved its graphing calculators in the years that have followed. I can tell you that back in the day, HP calculators seemed to have a bit of a “geek” reputation (if it is possible to make graphing calculators more geeky). I don’t mean that as a slight on HP graphing calculators. They just seemed to attract the top students of engineering, science, and computers, particularly due to the RPN format. I’ll probably talk more about Reverse Polish Notation in my reviews; I found it counterintuitive at first, but a time saver in the long run.
If you think of any features you want me to check out for my reviews of the HP 39gs, HP 40gs, or HP 50g, post it in the comments, and I’ll see what I can do.
