HP Graphing Calculator Reviews Coming

Just wanted to let you guys know that you can expect reviews of some of the top HP graphing calculators in the coming weeks. Hewlett Packard has been helpful to provide me with loans of the HP 39gs, HP 40gs, and HP 50g. It’ll take me some time to get these reviews put together because I’m not familiar with any of these calculators yet. The last time I worked with an HP graphing calculator was in my college days when my primary calculator was an HP 48gx.

Got some inquiries about ACT and SAT StudyCards after I wrote The Top 6 TI-84 Plus Apps, and I wanted to talk a little bit more about the app. There are so many possibilities with the StudyCard app it could make your head spin. To review, the app basically turns your TI-84 into a virtual flash card computer.

Best Uses of Graphing Calculators

With the recent announcement of the Casio Prizm, graphing calculators have been getting publicity they don’t normally see. Gizmodo, Wired, Mashable, and many of the other major tech sites/blogs have run articles on the Prizm, and I’ve noticed a common theme in the comments on those articles. A number of people are questioning graphing calculator use. I’m somewhat used to this. On my Youtube channel, I get these same questions and comments, and on rare occasions they even come from parents of my students.

Online ACT and SAT Test Prep with Kaplan

Kaplan is one of the best known names in test prep classes for getting students the extra ACT and SAT practice they need. What is probably less known is that Kaplan now offers online test prep in addition to the traditional classroom courses that they have offered for decades. If you’re anxious about the math test (or any part really) on the SAT or ACT, you might want to consider taking advantage of this type of service for some extra math practice for the test.
